Existing Policy Review

Already Own Life Insurance?

Before changing anything, understand what you already have.

Existing Policy Review
Overview

Understanding Existing Policy Review

Many people own policies they purchased years ago but may not fully understand how they are performing or whether they still align with their goals. That is not a failure on the owner's part — policies are technical documents, and the person who sold it is often long out of the picture.

Uhud Insurance & Financial Services offers a complimentary review for business owners, professionals, and families who already own life insurance. We take the time to walk through what you have, explain what it means in plain language, and answer your questions.

The purpose is not automatically to replace the policy. The purpose is to understand it first. If your existing coverage is solid, we will tell you so.

Key Benefits

What this strategy can offer

Death Benefit

What the policy actually pays, to whom, and under what conditions — including confirming that beneficiary designations still reflect your current wishes.

Cash Value

If you own a permanent policy, we review the current cash value, what is available to you, and how accessing it would affect the policy over time.

Premium Requirements

What you are paying, how long you are obligated to pay it, and what happens to the policy if your premium situation changes.

Guarantees and Non-Guaranteed Values

Which parts of your policy are contractual guarantees and which are projections based on assumptions that may not hold. This distinction is often the single most useful thing a review surfaces.

Policy Loans

Any outstanding loans, the interest accruing on them, and how they are affecting your available cash value and death benefit.

Riders

What riders are attached to the policy, what they do, what they cost, and whether they are still relevant to your circumstances.

Current Performance

How the policy is actually tracking against how it was originally illustrated, and whether it is on course to do what you bought it to do.

Term Expiration and Conversion Windows

If you own a term policy, when it ends and whether a conversion option still exists — both of which are easy to miss until it is too late to act on them.

Questions

Frequently asked about existing policy review

Yes. Uhud offers a complimentary review because clients deserve to understand what they own. We walk through your existing policy, answer your questions, and share our observations. There is no cost, no obligation, and no pressure to change or purchase anything as a result.

Not automatically. The purpose is not automatically to replace the policy — the purpose is to understand it first. Replacing an existing policy resets contestability, may require new underwriting, and is not always in your interest. In many cases keeping or adjusting what you own is the better answer, and we will say so.

Ideally your most recent policy statement or in-force illustration, the original policy document if you have it, and any recent carrier correspondence. If you cannot locate all of it, bring what you have — Uhud can help you request additional information from your carrier.

Some permanent policies, particularly older universal life policies, may not be on track to perform as originally illustrated because the assumptions behind that illustration did not hold. A review identifies whether the policy is at risk and what options exist, which may include adjusting premiums, adjusting the death benefit, or other alternatives appropriate to your situation.

Yes. Uhud reviews policies regardless of where they were originally purchased. The goal is to help you understand what you have and whether it still fits your needs. If your existing coverage is solid, we will tell you so.

A policy review is educational and does not constitute tax, legal, or financial advice. Uhud does not provide tax or legal advice; discuss your specific situation with your qualified tax professional. Replacing an existing life insurance policy may not be in your best interest and should be evaluated carefully, including contestability, new underwriting, surrender charges, and potential tax consequences. Policy loans and withdrawals reduce the available cash value and death benefit. Non-guaranteed values, including dividends, are not guaranteed.
